Latest Version of an OSS Integrated System Operations & Management Software "Hinemos(R) Version 6.1" has been released

~Introduction of the Operations Analytics to Enable an Offensive Operation for the Era of Bimodal IT~

February 7th, 2018

TOKYO, February 7, 2018 - Kou Miyake, the president & CEO of NTT DATA INTELLILINK Corporation (hereafter "INTELLILINK") today announced to start the distribution of Hinemos version 6.1, the latest version of OSS (open-source software) Integrated System Operations Management Software "Hinemos®".
Hinemos ver.6.1 will collect and accumulate various data, for visualization and to run analyzation, and to automate actions associated with detected failures and errors, to establish automation and autonomous operation of "Operation Analytics". It will make "real-time perception of system status" and "preventive maintenance by predicting upcoming events" possible.
This operations analytics does not only offer sustainability and stability for a "defensive operation", but will also enable an "offensive operation" with the total-management of the operation cost, allowing one to expand its business more efficiently.

Background

Recent years, the cooperation with the two concepts proposed by bimodal IT has been considered an essential factor. One is SoR (System of Record), which enables cost reduction and operation stability by improving its efficiency, and the other is SoE (System of Engagement), which creates new values by utilizing cutting-edge technology such as IoT.
With conventional methodology, installation of multiple software, and or sophisticated works of system engineers were needed to implement such operation and management, resulting an increase of cost, which will most likely become a problem.
Also, for SoE, not only require a "defensive operation" which simply seek sustainability and stability, but also an "offensive operation" which enables the total management of the operation cost for developing business with IT more efficiently.

For these problems and requirements, INTELLILINK will start its distribution of the latest version of Integrated System Operations Management Software "Hinemos ver.6.1".
With Hinemos ver.6.1, "real-time perception of system status" and "preventive maintenance by predicting upcoming events" has been implemented, to make both "defensive" and "offensive" operations of systems.
With "Operation Analytics", it will not only provide features for monitoring collected and accumulated data collected from system, but also to calculate, analyze and predict future system status from accumulated data, and to monitor its status in prior, enabling preventing maintenance in system operation.
By this "Operation Analytics", high level system operational management features will be available not only for high level engineers, but also for less experienced system operators, reducing installation of various software and high level work of system engineers, resulting in cost reduction.
User will be able to detect silent failure and to automate the following action, and to reduce system operation cost, all by using Hinemos, so to concentrate its business resources to create there SoE.

1.【Main characteristic of Hinemos ver.6.1】Collection of Binary Data

Hinemos version 6.1 can collect and accumulated not only various messages and performance values, but also other data such as packet capture and binary logs.
If Hinemos Agent is installed in the managed environment, collecting, and using the data can be started without the installation of other software.
You may tag the collected data in specified log format, and monitor the statistical information by using these tags.

2. Silent Failure Monitoring and Prediction Monitoring

Hinemos now uses the accumulated values to calculate tendencies and correlation for its monitoring feature. This enabled Hinemos to not only monitor real time status, but also to monitor silent failures, which will be monitoring predict performance degradation in the future, and to prevent them by noticing the operators in prior.

Future predicting monitoring
Calculate and estimate tendencies of system status automatically, and to monitor predicted values.
Variation monitoring
Monitor and alert drastic changes of collected values from systems.
Correlation monitoring
Monitor calculate correlation of 2 collected values, and alert when correlation collapse.
Compound Collectors monitoring
Designate multiple conditions in prior, and to alert operators when all conditions are matched.

3. Enhanced Automation

The features to enable automation of operation more easily has been enhanced. For example, users can recognize the tendencies of job execution time, calculated from the job execution history data, and also receive an alert if the time is out of range of its tendencies.
Execution priority of jobs can also be controlled by users more easily, for users to automate system operation more efficiently.

4. Compatibility with previous versions of Hinemos.

Hinemos ver.6.1 will be compatible with Hinemos Agent ver.6.0, meaning that you may start using the new features of the Hinemos ver.6.1 without applying change to the target machine using Hinemos ver.6.0.

Distribution Timing and Method

Hinemos ver.6.1 will be distributed under the open source license of GNU General Public License (GPL) from February 7th, 2018. Please refer to the link below for details.

Future Plans

INTELLILINK will continue to strengthen its cooperation with other Hinemos Alliance Companies and is planning to distribute Hinemos ver.6.1 subscription from April 2018.
This subscription is planned to include enhanced visualization, optimized utility, cooperation with ITIL products, and will be perfect for enterprise systems with cloud/redundant environment.

Please refer to the Hinemos Portal Website for the detailed release dates of each product and services.
