Released Multimedia Box Basic Software Ver. 10.0.5.0.

We have made following functional enhancements.

  • We have enhanced the format of WAVE files that can be read by the basic software to allow the VoicePlay method to be executed on WAVE files created by many popular voice tools.
  • Under special circumstances where it took a very long time to send and receive messages to and from the other fax machine due to reasons such as poor line quality when receiving fax, fax reception took up to 3 hours and failed in some cases. This enabled us to determine success or failure at an earlier point in time.

We fixed the following defects.

  • When receiving a fax in ECM mode, if the other machine sent a small size frame, which violates the T4 protocol, the received image cannot be created and the fax reception should fail, but the other machine was informed that the fax communication was successful.
  • When receiving fax under heavy PC load, an application error may occur in the PRISVCB, and subsequent incoming and outgoing communication per multimedia box may be disabled.
  • If a protocol violation message is received from the sending FAX machine at the start of FAX reception, an application error may occur in the PRISVCB, and subsequent incoming and outgoing communication per multimedia box unit may be disabled.
  • If fax is received while acquiring voice logs, in rare cases, network delays may cause the fax signal to stop being sent to the other party, resulting in fax reception failure.
  • After rebooting the PC, the core service may start with the LAN box unrecognized and it may not be possible to make or receive calls.

Barrier-free system that allows user to quickly specify the information user wants to know, speech recognition

Normally, in the automated voice information service, you follow the guidance from the system ("Press 1 for ○○, 2 for △△, etc.") and press a push button to select a menu item or enter information. However, when many menus and information items are provided, push button needs to be pressed many times to reach the desired information. Also, in case of cordless and cellular phones, the phone must be removed from the ear for each push operation. By using voice recognition technology, information can be specified by voice and the desired information intuitively, quickly, and in pinpoint accuracy. It is also a barrier-free function that is friendly to people who are not familiar with operation and the elderly people because there is no need of push-button operation and information can be obtained through natural dialogue-based operation.

"Vrec", voice recognition engine developed by NTT DATA, is provided as a standard feature in the multimedia card.
By setting up a dictionary of words to be recognized in advance, "Vrec" can recognize voices of random speakers in real time. The maximum number of simultaneously recognized words is 1000 words x 4 sequences.
Of course, there is no limit to the number of words registered in the entire system. The recognition rate is over 95%* for 500 words. "Vrec" provides large vocabulary recognition of 500,000 words and high-performance speech recognition that supports even barge-in function.

*The number of simultaneously recognized words and the recognition rate vary depending on the memory used and the number of lines.

Recognition performance of Vrec2 has been dramatically improved through the use of new speech recognition logic and a high-precision general-purpose acoustic model. The maximum registered vocabulary has been increased from 100,000 to 500,000 words.

By stopping the guidance voice during speech using hardware (DSP) achieves a more natural and sensitive conversational environment.
Unparalleled cost performance
No training is required because of the generic acoustic model. No additional licenses are required, and a speech recognition system can be built in a short period of time and at low cost.
Variety of options
"Tune-up service" where professional staff supports system construction, and "special acoustic models" for numbers/names/addresses/company names/financial institution names, etc. are available as options to support advanced and versatile system construction.

"Vrec2", a more advanced voice recognition engine, offers three additional functions!

N-BEST
Single recognition can notify up to multiple (3rd) candidates to the application. The list is narrowed down by listening back to similar candidate words, which increases the accuracy of recognition.

Word Spotting
Only specific keywords are recognized, excluding unnecessary words before and after.

Vrec2 enables dynamic dictionary creation in applications. Combined with the VOISTAGE text-to-speech function, it also easily supports voice portals to control the Web with voice.

Furthermore, it is necessary to take an approach considering interactive communication and human psychology to ensure stress-free operation. NTT DATA has the advantage of freely utilizing the technological assets accumulated from the days of the former Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Public Corporation, both in-house and within the NTT Group.

Speech synthesis (text-to-speech) converts text mixed with kanji and kana into speech.
Along with voice recognition, this is an important function that will form the core of the human interface in the next generation.
Until now, synthesized voice has been a unique machine voice that can be compared to a so-called robot voice, but VOISTAGE has revolutionized the conventional image with its unique synthesis method to achieve a more natural voice.

Speech synthesis can be used in various services

Speech synthesis is already used in car navigation systems and various other voice guidance services. First, in the financial sector, it can be used for bank account balance inquiries and stock price information at securities firms; in the public sector, it can be used for municipal government information, emergency information, various traffic information, timetable/fare information, and news/weather information.
In the commercial field, it is also ideal for reciting mail-order items, announcing special sales information, and narrating product descriptions. On the other hand, this technology can be used in extremely wide range of applications including business settings as well as private settings, such as reading out emails and websites, proofreading sentences and numbers, etc.

Prosody editing is available across multiple phrases
We have expanded the unit of prosody editing from one phrase to multiple phrases, making it possible to edit even long sentences on a single operation screen and dramatically improving editing efficiency.

I already use a multimedia box. Can I subscribe to the maintenance service?

Yes. You can also subscribe to the maintenance service for the multimedia box you are currently using.

How soon can you send me a substitute equipment?

If the multimedia box is determined to have a hardware failure, we will do our best efforts to ship it. At that time, we will also conduct a brief inquiry to confirm that the problem is a hardware failure.

What is the log analysis service?

If any problem occurs in your multimedia box, we will investigate the log to determine the cause of the problem. We will investigate obvious problems with the Multimedia Box, such as the problems that can be reproduced by our company, regardless of whether this service is available or not. However, please subscribe to this service for log analysis to investigate the cause and solution for problems that have occurred as described above.

Can I get maintenance service with a multimedia card?

The equipment covered is the multimedia box only.

What is the unit of maintenance service? Can I subscribe to the service on a per-system or per-user basis?

The subscription unit for this service is one multimedia box/year. If you wish to use many multimedia boxes in one system, please contact us for a separate estimate.

Multimedia box originally had a "5 year warranty", will that change?

The 5-Year Warranty, which provides free repairs for 5 years against hardware failures, will continue regardless of this maintenance service. (*User registration required) On the other hand, the "5-year warranty" does not include services such as providing a substitute equipment during the repair period or investigating logs in the event of failure. You can get above services by subscribing to the maintenance service.
